Ben is a journalist who has become overwhelmed by the encroaching global crises he keeps writing about. So he travels the world, from Berlin to London to Kansas to Norway, to the Yucatan peninsula and many places in between, learning from those preparing for social and ecological collapse. Call them preppers, doomers, or bunker-dwellers, the collapse community is bigger than you think, and growing all the time. Some have even passed through their personal extinction and come out the other side. What does Ben learn? Where does he go? And is peace even possible in the crater of someone else’s extinction?
