The director of this documentary collected the dreams of residents of the Tjuabal tribe in Taiwan. After recording six talks, she then produced six videos clips and combined them into this magic-realism film. The film’s starting point is just the everyday chat and gossip of fortune telling: “dreaming about leeches means you are going to have a son”. Then, some people go on to say that “he once saw a giant” and “she was swept up by the waves and pushed back”. At this point, the story goes beyond the boundary of dreams as the interviewees claim “these events are what really happened”. If we presume that there exists a boundary between the living and the dead, after these interviewees’ experiences and reportage, we now see that the boundary between this life and the after-life is continually being pushed back and forth.
