The South Kamchatka Sanctuary is a haven for red salmon, a wild species that inhabits the Kamchatka peninsula, a region in the far east of Russia. The reserve, which is home to a population of brown bears and attracts thousands of tourists every year, is a rare example of balance between flora and fauna. The documentary, awarded at various festivals both for its exquisite photography and its urgent message for preservation, was shot over a period of years and witnessed the community＇s efforts to raise awareness among the local population and curb poaching, which threatened the sockeye salmon and thus all the biodiversity they help sustain.
