Konsumkunst - Kunstkonsum

Widely recognized in German circles as the first critical exploration into the multiplication and authorship of contemporary art production, Konsumkunst - Kunstkonsum, observes fundamental issues of serial multiplication and mass commodification of the art object in Europe and the United States. The documentary acts a platform for Schum to visually render works of art as objects of ownership revealing the progression from artist＇s studio to gallery. It was during the production of this film that Schum began to envision a non-object based, reproducible art through cinematic and televisual mean, a form of communication he compared to Gutenberg and his printing press.
