Weaving threads between her native Colombia and adopted Canada, Lina Rodriguez (So Much Tenderness, National Competition FNC 2022) unfolds a sensitive autobiographical narrative in which her intimate immigration experience takes shape through the labyrinth of emotional memory. Through a fragmented structure that defies chronology, the director intertwines her memories with those of her mother, the two women linking their feelings to the upheavals of Colombian history. This experimentally-tinged documentary poem blurs timelines of a past resurfacing in fragments, like a dream—or a nightmare. A work of rare delicacy, between confession and political statement.
