An assured debut from director Harry Sherriff unfurls a darkly comic missing person tale set in a once-grand, now fading seaside hotel.

When staff member Elle disappears overnight, her co-workers, led by restless longterm resident Leonard, grapple with unsettling dread rather than clues. Fixed frame camerawork and moody coastal weather amplify Leonard’s inward torment as regret and grief surface in deadpan absurdity.

Peppered by Samuel Blenkin’s eloquently restrained and quietly moving performance, Misper cleverly blends thriller, horror and dark comedy, its melancholic score weaving tension with a wry sense of humour.
