Girassóis

Zé, an elderly Black man still working for a supermarket chain, is caught off guard when he’s transferred to a different store. Despite the new location, his grueling work hours remain unchanged – or even worse, given the longer commute time on public transportation. Loosely based on real events, Girassóis sheds light on the harsh reality faced by many Brazilian workers, who are all too familiar with exhaustion, the struggle to envision a future, and the oppression inflicted by the relentless capitalist machine that continues to grind on, no matter the toll it takes on people’s lives and bodies.
