Portrait of Artists as Young Folks

＇Portrait of Artists as Young Folks＇ is an ethnographic documentary film. It is an observation of a typical working day in the lives of children and young adolescents who practice the traditional folk art form of Bahurupi in West Bengal＇s Tarakeswar. Since Tarakeswar is known as the ＇city of Shiva,＇ Bahurupis here generally prefer to play the characters of Lord Shiva & Parvati.

The film portrays a group of young Bahurupis as they start their day, donning their make-up and trying on costumes at the vendor＇s place. Once ready, the group sets off for work.

The camera follows two young Bahurupis as they journey on a train to a marketplace where they seek and receive alms on what seems to be a typical working day for them.
