Ferryman

The film takes place in the South of Zaporizhia on the shores of the Azov estuary, shortly before the outbreak of the territorial conflict. The main character of the film, played by Artyom Alekseev, is the ferryman Konstantinovich, a native local resident, by origin: a Greek on his father＇s side and a descendant of Tambov Old Believers on his mother＇s side. After the collapse of the USSR, the old bridge over the estuary was destroyed and dismantled for scrap. The ferryman Konstantinovich connects the shores, the fate of fellow villagers, relatives and friends, and also takes responsibility for everything that happens in his small homeland. Konstantinovich also has a hobby – he builds a time machine in his shed behind his house according to his own drawings. The villagers relate to the hobby They are interested in Konstantinovich, but they do not believe that he will be able to travel back to 1852 and persuade Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol not to burn the second volume of the poem "Dead Souls".
