Something strange happens when nine-year-old Sara waits for her mother in the doorway of her new home, a decadent building without elevator. A wrinkled note has fallen with a candy inside, down the stairwell, to her feet. There is someone or something on the top floor who wants to meet her, but the place is supposed to be empty. Despite her nictophobia - pathological fear of darkness - her overflowing imagination and her loneliness, Sara will be forced to climb up and there, at the end of the corridor, she will find the witch, who has finally lured her into her trap.

Sara will have to grow up facing her fears and will pay a price for it: she will change from girl to adult, changing some fears from girl to adult. Because monsters exist, but they are not fantastic beings. They are human, flesh and blood, and real.
