Monument

In the childhood footage Maksim is two, while their father is in his early twenties. Looking through the archives, the director notices how much alike they are. But this resemblance is frightening, because appearance is just the only thing that speaks of their closeness. Lack of contact points, rigid rejection of each other＇s positions, radically different sense of reality: it seems that their connection can exist only in these archival frames, but their dispute on everything will end only if one of them dies. "Monument" is a daring personal attempt of a distant dialogue between the director and their own father, who for a long time has trusted Russian propaganda more than his own son.
