SYNOPSIS

After the Korean War, in a quiet village of women divers on Jeju Island, the villagers select the leader of woman divers called ＇Sang-gun woman diver＇. The Sang-gun must maintain her virtue even if she became a widow. She had to be the model for all women divers. The village people hold the Dragon King Ritual annually. It was the rule that one didn＇t engage in any corrupt behavior starting a few days before the ritual begins. With the ritual soon at hand, Sun-nyeo, the last Sang-gun, looks about the village. She witnesses Jang Tae-wun and a young woman diver making love. The ritual passes by quietly but then the village is hit with misfortune due to their act. Tae-wun also goes after Sun-nyeo, the young Sang-gun, relentlessly. After much anguish, Sun-nyeo gives in.

故事
