A Swedish moralistic exploitation-movie made by an avid golfer/doctor � what can go wrong with that?

Young Susanne starts hanging out with greasers who party, drink and have sex.

When Susanne and Olle are trying to get away from the cops they crash and have to go into surgery.

After the surgery Susanne has changed - she becomes heartless and stops caring about anything.

"Susanne" was made by a doctor and his wife in attempt to scare people from hanging with the wrong crowds and do bad things. But making a movie about it wasn＇t enough, to really get through to the audience they used authentic surgery footage for the surgery scene and even an authentic child birth (not graphic as you only see the baby when it＇s out). Did it work? Well, back in 1960 I can imagine it worked really well as I＇ve heard that some people even fainted at the screenings. But 50 years later the film isn＇t as shocking, and teens today aren＇t exactly gonna be scared away from all their late night activities because of this film. The thing that makes this film work in 2010 is the entertainment value.

Everything about this film is a set up to show you the bad sides of drinking and driving, having sex and running from problems. Our lead, Susanne, is a girl who starts hanging out with the wrong people and end up in a car crash. The driver in the other car dies, but Susanne and Olle survive. After the car crash Susanne is like a new person, she becomes worse than any of the people she hangs out with, and after a passionate night with Olle she becomes pregnant. It＇s really just trying to tell you what not to do. As I said, 50 years later this tactic doesn＇t work. But it＇s very entertaining still and nice to see a scare movie that works better as an actual movie. Many of them tend to be a lot more documentary-ish (not to say this film doesn＇t have that in some aspects too).

Klubb Super 8 has released a DVD of this movie, complete with English subtitles for those outside Sweden that wants to experience this obscure Swedish curiosity.

The print is jumpy and grainy, but in pretty good condition if you consider how obscure this movie is.
