On January 31, 2020, my brother Juan Manuel died, asphyxiated in his bed. It had all the earmarks of being Covid, but we weren＇t in quarantine yet. No autopsy was done...

On March 31, 2020, my brother José died of Covid-19; This death was certified to us.

They both lived with a third brother; Pablo, one of my little brothers, an anonymous character of the Madrid scene. A plastic artist who lost his life and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia with a 65% disability. We made a documentary together about his issue in 2014.

I lived with great fear, almost panic, the helplessness of Pablo locked up in the family home surrounded by his monsters, in absolute solitude now, in the first days of the state of alarm. I let 4 days go by and skipped confinement by crossing the most ghostly Madrid I have ever known. I showed up at what used to be my parents＇ house, full of pain, trying to manage a new duel without having overcome the previous one.

To the fear that Pablo＇s disability would have destroyed him, it added the fear of the alarm generated, of infecting me through objects, the house or my own brother. I found a much more complete person than I expected. -I＇m alone in the house of the spirits- he told me when I left... I knew that for him to survive there, I had to destroy the house and create a new one.

This is that story, yours, mine, the same as that of so many people around the world. The story of duel transformed into creation.
