EA! Un Mantra Andalou

Representatives of what have been called the new flamencos, the EA! have been inventing since their beginnings a nomadic music influenced as much on the fusion of flamenco sources with jazz or rock, as on the rhythms of the Maghreb and Black Africa that pass through the Strait of Gibraltar. Fiercely attached to the principle of autonomy, the couple formed by Pilar La Mónica and Juan Madrera, work in a spirit of assumed independence, publishing their music at home, without worrying about commercial fallout. This artistic quest is inseparable from a way of life on the fringes that unfolds within the cortijo they built themselves in the middle of the marshes of the Bay of Cadiz. There, the small EA community! maintains its position as a maverick, mixing everyday family life, a contemplative relationship with nature, and musical research. An intimate portrait of a group at work, the film is the story of this musical and human experience.
