In a striking combination of memories captured on film and images of daily life, Nisha Platzer tries to piece together a portrait of the brother she lost as a child. The film gently and slowly approaches its subject through the people who knew him and the fragments of objects he left behind. The teenager who emerges is deeply sensitive and complex, unable to overcome the pain of the world’s injustices. Both a work of grief and a reflection on the failures of mental health care, back home reminds us how tough it is to face the distress of not only those who are gone but also those who remain.
