Report from the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of Godthåb (Nuuk) by the missionary Hans Egede. The town's mayor is presented with a mayoral necklace by artist Hans Lynge in collaboration with court jeweller A. Dragsted. The very emotional mayor then receives Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, who arrive by helicopter. Grand welcome ceremony. Party with live rock band in the youth club. The Queen gives a speech to mark the anniversary and expresses her warmest wishes for the future of the city. At the same time, demonstrations take place in the city. Inauguration of a new exhibition at the National Museum in Nuuk. An anniversary service is held in the Church of Our Saviour, attended by the Queen and the Prince Consort, and a statue of Jonathan Petersen (author of Greenland's national anthem) is unveiled outside the church.
