Arne Jacobsen's Modern Denmark

Film follows a disobedient schoolboy with a great talent for painting, and how he became one of Denmark’s greatest architects. Arne Jacobsen is fondly referred to as the grandfather of modern Danish design and widely regarded as one of the most influential architects and designers of the 20th century. He was a key actor in bringing modernism to Denmark and shaping the Danish functionalist expression, combining new ideas with the Danish craft tradition and a grasp of material qualities. Working as an architect, furniture designer, industrial designer and landscape architect, he made contributions to the world of design that remain as significant and original today as they were in his lifetime. His ideas were ahead of their time and often received criticism, but today, 50 years after his death, his works define modern Denmark.
