A letter to a friend and a shared utopia progressively reveals a personal short-circuit, reflected in the single-shot of a sunset turned into a sunrise where, within a simultaneously familiar and foreign language, it becomes possible to explore ways of existing without occurring.Filmed upon the director’s return to Italy from a stay in Cuba brutally interrupted by the current sanitary crisis, the diaristic video explores a moment of intimate re-orientation in time and space, in which the pandemic context lends itself to a personal reflection on the sense of belonging. In an attempt at capturing time＇s eternal inevitability, the film also questions the ways in which place influences our structuring of time, which on its turn alters our way of existing and assigning meaning to life.Across the image, the pixels are moved by the nearby loud sound waves, suggesting a sense of warmth and pointing at the precarious fragmentation of the digital image or the discontinuous nature of memory.
