Jacques Roumain, la passion d’un pays

A feature film through which the director makes us discover the work and the tormented life of one of the most famous writers of Haiti and one of its most famous politicians. Born in Port-au-Prince on June 4, 1907 and died on August 18, 1944, Jacques Roumain was a famous Haitian intellectual. In 2007, cultural events were organized to commemorate the centennial of his birth. In his latest publication, the sociologist Hérold Toussaint presents Jacques Roumain as "the thinker of hope". This film is both a fresco of the whole of 19th century Haiti and the first half of the 20th century.
