The Edge of the World offers a very original view of the intriguing Australian writer Tim Winton. After winning the Vogel Award at the age of 21 for "An Open Swimmer " he went on to win the prestigious Miles Franklin Award for "Shallows" two years later. At age 32, he won both the Deo Gloria Award and a further Miles Franklin Award for his novel "Cloudstreet". In 1995 "The Riders" which was short listed for the Booker Prize and a feature film of his novel "In the Winter Dark" has been made starring the Oscar-nominated British actress Brenda Blethyn.
