The sertão and its people, engravings and sculptures representing scenes of processions. Featuring five songs from the then unknown singer Gilberto Gil, the film, produced from contributions from friends, was proposed as a protest against the civil-military dictatorship that begun in 1964 and as an act of cultural upheaval in times of boastful authoritarianism.
