Western Rampart

纪录片剧情
With the vast Vestvolden rampart south-west of Copenhagen as an object of imaginative exploration, the artist group SUPERFLEX studies our perception of boundaries in its latest film. Both man-made and natural ones. Vestvolden was built (but never completed) between 1888 and 1892, as a defence against invasions, but has been left unused since the First World War. Today, Vestvolden is home to many forms of life, which in type and scale exceed the original intention of the rampart. An enormous red talking toadstool is our guide to the history of the place in an existential monologue. For where Vestvolden is the embodiment of humanity's need to protect itself against dangers in order to survive, our mushroom guide argues that it is precisely movement and circulation that we need in order to thrive in the world. In its combination of visual and narrative poetry, and of magic realism and documentary, SUPERFLEX's take on a nature film is an almost mind-expanding experience.
