A filmmaker long interested in exploring the boundaries of genre cinema through a distinctly Brazilian gaze, particularly from Curitiba, Wellington Sari reaches a pinnacle in this project, which he shares with his collaborators at the production company O Quadro. The story of João, and his deep dive into the layers of image construction in contemporary society, highlights Sari’s direct connection to Brian De Palma (the subject of a book written by the filmmaker), while infusing the narrative with distinctly Brazilian and contemporary elements.
