Catorce de marzo

Héctor (11) and Gema (6) face the last day before the trial of their parents’ divorce, in which they’ll be asked with whom they prefer to live from now on. Both siblings leave the village where they live with their father and embark on a trip to Barcelona, where their mother now lives with a new partner, and where the trial takes place.

Héctor is sure he’ll choose to live with Dad and blames their mother for “abandoning” them. But Gema doesn’t seem to understand what’s really going on between their parents and doesn’t want to separate from Mum. Héctor fears she does not understand the importance of tomorrow’s decision because she’s not being told the exact truth. As the day progresses, he’ll try to force her to stay with Dad, fearing they might get separated if they don’t choose the same side.

But after reuniting with his mother, Héctor reconnects with her, and starts to reconsider everything he thought about his whole family and about tomorrow’s choice. On the contrary, when Gema sees her mother kissing her new partner, she feels betrayed and finally realizes that her family is, indeed, broken.

As the moment to see the judge approaches, both siblings find themselves in the middle of an adult war that ends up jeopardizing their own relationship. But, in the end, Héctor and Gema understand that what matters the most is that they just remain together, no matter which home they end up in.
