Dance Floor Murder

Nisansala, a clever but rigid-thinking young detective, is determined to solve a murder case on her own. When she learns her job is on the line, she is forced to share her theories aloud with a team she doesn’t feel part of.

Opening up to the other detectives and talking through the evidence, Nisansala begins to imagine herself on the dance floor where the crime was committed. The more she lets her colleagues in, the more her mind fills with colour and movement. Just as they reach a turning point in the investigation, a big dance number takes over Nisansala’s imagination, enabling her to uncover critical clues.

More than a classic murder detective story, the film experiments with magic realism using Nisansala’s mind space.
