Sônia is a woman burdened by childhood trauma, who feels invisible in her marriage to Agenor, a devout man and loving father to their young daughters.

They live on a remote farm at the border between the Amazon Rainforest and the Brazilian Cerrado. Each year, Agenor departs on a 40-day religious pilgrimage, leaving the family isolated in the harsh backlands.
