Eccentric inventor Laurence Burton lives completely off-grid in the remote Tabernas Desert, Spain. The old man has one last attempt to achieve his lifelong dream: to build an aircraft powered solely on clean energy, using gyroscopes as propellers.Although his ideas seem outrageous at first, little by little Laurence’s life story and the reasons that lead him to build the aircraft unravel. Science Fiction appears as a strong character study, depicting Laurence and his motley crew as archetypes of the original hippie generation that actually stood by the values they believed in fifty years ago. Showing the journey towards attempting his dream serves as a dramatic backdrop, allowing us to understand the reasons that drove him and his circle to isolate from society. On a deeper level, it is a film about a man close to the end of his life, struggling to find closure to a troubled family legacy.
