Rudolf Nureyev. An Alien Island

Rudolf Nureyev first came to Italy as part of the ballet troupe of the Marquis de Cuevas, which toured in Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Venice, and Bari. In the mid-60s of the twentieth century, Nureyev actively worked on the stages of Italy. In 1965, on the stage of the Milan Opera and Ballet Theater La Scala, he staged Swan Lake as a choreographer. In 1981 Nureyev successfully danced on the stage of the Roman Opera and Ballet Theater the main role in his own production of the play “Marco Spada,” and in the late 80s, Rudolf Nureyev acquired the island of Li Galli in the south of Italy, not far from Amalfi: “I want to dip my tired legs in the sea " Rudolf dreamed of creating a world ballet center here for young ballet talents. But this dream could not be realized due to his early death.
