During the harvest season in a rural village in southern Italy, where old conventions and prejudices as old as the village itself reign, a young girl grapples with a period of upheaval in her life. This film is not a story of an individual living in a certain period of time. Rather it weaves the experiences of women throughout Italy’s long history into one allegory. The girl’s growth resonates universally, transcending regions and borders.
