Burn Gently: An Australian Hip Hop Documentary

The new documentary chronicling the impact and importance of hip hop on Australian music culture was over six years in the making. Burn Gently is billed as in-depth look at our nation’s music industry through the lens of hip hop from the late ‘80s to the present day.

The film features interviews with over 35 influential figures, including Suffa from Hilltop Hoods, Baker Boy, Sampa The Great, Barkaa, Jeswon from Thundamentals, Bliss N Eso, Urthboy, Drapht, Ecca Vandal, and more.

Burn Gently will address "how we absorb and engaged with the borrowed culture in our own backyard" according to the filmmakers. It will also explore the "complexity of racism, drug abuse, violence, misogyny, and mental health issues, whilst also championing the unique work of all the beautiful personalities we meet along the way."

Behind the scenes, Burn Gently is a collaborative production between artist and events management company Sensible Antixx, N’fa Jones of pioneering group 1200 Techniques, and Hideaway Productions.
