A Tale of Grafting

This is the story of a silent yet powerful battle to recover chestnut-woods and their legacy in Viola Castello. Only the castagnere, old harvester women, remain. They remember when life was chestnut-shaped. Silence and the abandonment of a precious heritage are the only things left. Ettore, filmed by his son Sandro, changes the Valley’s fate through grafting: giving new sap to an existing tree, life’s carried on.
