幸福课堂 Happiness Class

Happiness Class takes us on a journey through the unique and fascinating world of children—their preoccupations, worries and, most importantly, their very idea of happiness. From the starting point of an experimental ‘happiness curriculum’—inspired by the thoughts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and formally employed in Delhi’s government schools—the film visits institutions across the Indian capital’s diverse neighbourhoods. The film features intimate conversations with pupils from both resident and refugee families—facilitated by a range of simple and universal art exercises. In an increasingly competitive world, with its challenges of conflict, segregation and polarisation, Samina Mishra’s documentary also employs playful animation to outline the possibilities and challenges of including ‘happiness’ as a subject on school curricula.
