After the death of her husband Diro, who belongs to the Samsa community in Semkhor, his wife, takes care of their three children. She gets her only daughter Muri married at the tender age of 11. After Muri dies during childbirth, the infant is prepared to be buried alive along with the mother as per Semkhor＇s customs. However, Muri＇s mother protects her infant, indicating a new dawn in Semkhor.
