The Swedish actress Lena Nyman was the woman in I Am Curious (Yellow) that changed the film history forever. It was the first movie that showed naked sex scenes on cinema in the United States and it caused a huge controversy with law suits in every state and made enormous amounts of money. Behind the movie there were an actress with ambitions to show love, real female bodies and the Swedish class society. I Am Curious (Yellow) became the highest-grossing foreign-language film in the US between 1969-1992 and it is based on one woman’s unique history. This is a documentary about female artistry and the high price that Lena had to pay for it. The film made millions and even though Lena was the real creator behind it she only saw a couple of thousand crowns. But thanks to her story there are new possibilities to us female creators that came after her.
